3 Tequila Cocktails with Lower ABV to Enjoy During Damp January

As we step into the new year, many are embracing a "Damp January” lifestyle — a trend that’s gained popularity in recent years as a more moderate approach to the month following all the festive indulgences December brings than its stricter sibling, “Dry January.”

Whether you're looking to reduce overall alcohol consumption or simply want to imbibe more mindfully, Damp January allows you to continue to enjoy the taste, cultural & social aspects surrounding cocktail culture, while still benefiting from a lifestyle reset.

Crafting cocktails at home with a lower ABV (alcohol by volume) is an easy, controllable way to partake in Damp January. Tequila is an excellent base spirit for these types of drinks, due to its versatility and crisp, clean flavors that easily translate into lighter, refreshing drinks without tasting watered down.

Here are three reduced ABV cocktail recipes you can make this month with Carabuena Tequila that are perfect for Damp January.

1. TEQUILA SPRITZ

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Carabuena Tequila Blanco

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice

  • 1 oz agave syrup or simple syrup

  • 2 oz sparkling wine (you can also substitute flavored sparkling water here for an even lighter cocktail!)

  • Lime wheel, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup. Fill with ice and shake until well chilled.

  2. Strain into a wine glass filled with ice.

  3. Top with sparkling wine and give a gentle stir.

  4. Garnish with a lime wheel and serve.

2. TEQUILA COLLINS

  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice

  • 0.5 oz agave syrup

  • 2 oz club soda
