Artist Feature: Felipe Gomez

Felipe Gomez is an Austin, Texas-based contemporary artist who specializes in multi-layered laser woodcut artwork. He has been creating art for over a decade, and his works range from layered wood sculptures to murals and oil paintings.

Born in Bogota, Colombia, Felipe moved to the United States in 2001 and attended Texas State University. After working in the tech sector, he decided to pursue his passion for art full-time and quit his job in 2019 to build a garage art studio.

Influenced by street art, screen-printing, and clay sculpture, Felipe's art reflects upon current socio-political events, indigenous folk, feminine and masculine energy, and people of color through stories and intricate geometric patterns.

He has been featured in numerous showcases and galleries across Texas, including at SXSW and the W Hotel.
