Carabuena Blanco Awarded IWSC Silver Spirit Medal

We always knew our Carabuena Tequila Blanco was a winner — now, it’s official.

We submitted our Blanco for judging in this year’s International Wine & Spirits Competition, or IWSC — the most respected global wine and spirits community, renowned for its expertise, influence, and personal approach.

We are proud to announce that Carabuena Tequila Blanco received an exemplary mark of 90 out of 100 possible points, earning it a coveted Silver Medal and classifying it as, in IWSC’s words, “an accomplished spirit with personality and character: a classic example of its style.”

The IWSC uses a rigorous and thorough judging process in its annual competition to find the best of the best, with each submission tasted by a panel of expert judges from 30+ countries to ensure consistency and fair benchmarking.

The judging criteria is based purely based on quality, with factors like pricing not shared with judges. The tasting process is tightly structured & rigorous, relying on a double-blind method, which means samples are tasted in pre-poured numbered glasses to ensure judges never see a bottle. Each spirit is judged by a whole panel in sync, allowing for group discussions.

More than 4,000 spirits from over 90 countries entered this year's IWSC awards — making it even more remarkable that Carabuena rose above the rest in this head-to-head competition.

What exactly did the judges have to say about our Blanco’s tasting notes? “Grassy and earthy notes intertwine with roots, fruity cooked agave nuances and pepper. Complex, slightly savory and balanced, with light chili hints on the lingering finish.”
